Created a slide show this week. Resized images in PhotoShop as thumbnails and mid-size copies then placed in Dreamweaver. Added some html which allowed images to be played as a slideshow in Lytebox. Brilliant, especially as I managed to get mine to work!

Not here for Weeks 4 & 5 so was pleased to hear that the Week 4 class was cancelled due to snow. Glad I was in Mauritius and did not have to try and get into work on Monday, although we did have to endure cyclone Gael.  My encounter with the lions more than made up for it.

Designed my webpage on paper then used PhotoShop to create a layout for my webpage. By using PhotoShop can use the gridlines to work out pixels for each part of the design. Need to complete this at home.

Finally found some time to do some research. The Web Monkey website is excellent. Used the tutorials for information architecture and am now ready to structure and design my web pages. Found a good website during my research on competitors and also found an awful one – not sure if the website is advertising the owner or the apartment! It’s a useful exercise to compare the competition, makes you realise what works and what doesn’t. Also found some features I had not considered before such as converting the site into different languages and having a feedback area. Highly recommend the tutorials – if you have got a few hours spare!

Trying to get my head round Dreamweaver again, it’s been a long break and all my plans to use DW over the holidays failed miserably! Thank goodness week one was gentle. Don’t quite see the benefit of blogging yet but maybe in time… At least I have revisited my blog today to post this, so there is hope!
Have found a website I like, see URL link. Will fill in the questionnaire this week and draw a plan for my website, so far have done a rough sketch.
